Tunis – London

Aymen Gharbi co-director of INTERFERENCE and SEE DJERBA visited SHUBBAK team in December 2024 in order to develop a longstanding collaboration between both organsaitions.

Thanks to the Wijhat 2024 travel grant by Cultural Resource, Aymen is collaborating with local communities to curate a visual arts project for Shubbak Festival 2025, showcasing emerging Arab artists in the UK for the first time.

As part of his residency, Aymen joined us on site visits for a possible projection project for Shubbak 2025 and engaged in insightful discussions with Young Shubbak during their final 2024 session. This residency marks a meaningful cultural exchange between Interference in Tunis and Shubbak.

Through this journey, the goal is to empowering artists and underrepresented voices to share powerful stories and aesthetical experience from a diffrent part of the world.

Aymen explained after his transformative experience in london:
“In the realm of media art, we’re witnessing a fascinating convergence of traditional narratives and digital innovation.”,  and added; “Through this collaboration, we’re exploring how site-specific projections and interactive installations can transform urban spaces into canvases for cultural dialogue. Our goal is to create immersive experiences that challenge the conventional boundaries between public space, technology, and artistic expression, while amplifying voices from the Arab world in contemporary media art discourse.”

Keep follwoing SHUBBAK festival for thier new edition in 2025 taking place from May 23rd to June 15th.
